TAMAS HARSANYI
Programmer, Project Manager, Game Designer
When I was in high school, I was really interested in 2 areas: 3D graphics and programming. It turned out that I couldn’t go to college (study programming), but I was able to start an OKJ “Game and Animation Filmmaker” training. Unfortunately, after half a year, I had to leave it, but it was good that I fell in love with "traditional" painting and started to take an interest in game development. After the training, whenever I could in my free time, I was learning to program and got acquainted with the different game engines. I am currently using Unity. My first major game, "The Overdreamer," was completed in 2017 and has been on Steam ever since. For a year now, I found a game development job in Budapest with this game, and I have been working in the profession ever since.
In my free time I like to read (Asimov, Salvatore, Cixin Liu, Nick Cutter ...), play (Elden Ring, Factorio, Horizon: ZD / FW ...) and I also have some side projects all the time, I usually either learn something new or just test some idea I find interesting.
So far, I’ve found that most people become game developers because they love to play. This is not the case with me, I like to play of course but I am attracted to the complex tasks required to make games. When developing a game, you need to have a programmer, a graphic artist, a psychologist, a musician, an economist and even who knows how many roles to play on the team. (Of course, 1 person can play several roles.) I think there are few professions that are so diverse. As a project manager, I consider it important to get to know as many areas as possible.
